Thursday's affair,

Man molested six young girls over eight months

(What a darn jerk _|_ )

SINGAPORE: The one—year—old girl was walking behind her mother along the common corridor when their male neighbour picked the toddler up and kissed her on the lips.

When the mother, who was pushing a pram and carrying a six—month—old baby, realised that her daughter was no longer walking behind her, she stopped and saw Salim Abdul Rahman, 49, kissing the child.

The girl’s mother shouted at him to put her down. She filed a police report a month later.

On Tuesday, Salim pleaded guilty to outraging the modesty of six underaged girls over a period of eight months, starting with the toddler.

On June 25, he approached a nine—year—old girl who was walking home after attending a tuition class and asked her for directions to the market.

He insisted on getting her help, even though she said she did not know the way and wanted to go home.

Salim grabbed her hand and led her to a staircase landing at a block of flats, where he touched her private parts. He fled when the girl started to cry loudly.

A month later, Salim approached another nine—year—old girl to help him look for his house keys. He then took the girl to a staircase landing where he hugged her. The frightened girl said she wanted to go home, and he allowed her to leave.

On Aug 4, Salim offered a packet of rice and curry to two girls and befriended them. He later sat with them at a bus stop and asked if they would like to be his daughters.

When the two girls, who were aged eight and nine, prepared to board a bus, he kissed them on their cheeks.

The next month, Salim approached a nine—year—old girl at Yishun Central and asked her for directions.

When the girl said she was not sure, Salim grabbed her and took her to a staircase landing in a block of flats. He hugged the girl and molested her, fleeing when he heard someone coming down the staircase.

On Tuesday, Salim also pleaded guilty to employing an illegal immigrant as a stall assistant at his food stall in Sin Tong Hong Eating House at Choa Chu Kang.

District Judge Roy Neighbour called for a preventive detention report on Salim. He will appear in court again on Dec 28.

SINGAPORE: In a rash act to stop his son, who has special needs, from quarrelling with his sister, the man swung a chopper at the teenager.

On Wednesday, Ong Chee Seng, 53, was sentenced to 18 months’ jail for voluntarily causing hurt to the 18—year—old.

The incident began when the teenager wanted to meet his friend on September 26, at 8.15am. His 24—year—old sister refused to let him go, and they had a dispute in the kitchen. Her boyfriend heard the commotion and scolded the teen for raising his voice at his elder sister.

About 45 minutes later, the two siblings were still quarrelling. Ong, who is unemployed, walked into the kitchen and scolded the teen in Cantonese.

In quick succession, Ong punched his son’s face and body, then took a 10cm chopper and swung it at the victim, who held up his arms to defend himself. He was hit on the left arm.

Upon seeing this, the sister’s boyfriend rushed forward to stop Ong from further attacking the teen.

The couple took the teenager to a polyclinic, where he was referred to a hospital because of his serious injuries. He underwent surgery in the evening.

His sister lodged a police report three days later upon the advice of the teenager’s school authorities, who arranged for him to be placed in a hostel for safe custody temporarily.

The teenager will need a medical check—up in three months’ time to assess for any permanent disability.

Mr Benny Bong, director of family counselling centre The Family Therapist, told MediaCorp that while this was an extreme case, it is not uncommon that families taking care of special needs individuals will get frustrated on occasion.

"Very few agencies exist to support these children and their families. We need more of these agencies to provide support," said Mr Bong.

He added that families with special needs children should not feel that they have to restrain the children all the time.

They should learn more about the condition of their child and cooperate with schools, which can impart skills for children to take care of themselves.

JJ Lin to make comeback in mid-December after ill health with new album

Piling work stress and recurring gastric problems in the beginning of this year affected homegrown singer JJ Lin's vocal cords and delayed his comeback to the music industry. After a year's recuperation and hiatus, he said he gained back his strength and vocal ability, and he will releasing his latest and eighth music album in middle of December.

The 28-year-old belted out a portion of his new song from the album, titled 100 Days, to prove his recovery at a recent press conference.

The singer confessed that he was afraid that he would never being able to sing again, and harboured thoughts of cutting ties with the outside world. He managed to cope during the gloomy period with the support of his family, and friends, and said that their encouragement and support gave him the strength to make a comeback.

And what's a comeback without new rumours? JJ was recently sighted accompanying his female manager to the gynecologist, sparking off speculation of an illicit relationship between the pair. He clarified that he was "merely bringing her to the doctor.

"I am very good friends with my manager. During my lowest days, we went through a lot together and grew closer. My manager sacrifices so much for me and that has caused some problems amongst her own family."

Wokeup by mummy, its only 11am. I only sleep for 5hours only. Changed and get ready to schl, bought books. Saw familier* people. Thn, dad drove us to his mum's side, which was my grandma. Went to i-forget-where, and bought grandma's shoes/slipper. Ltr, send grandma back thn off to amkhub. Bought this and tht, shop here & there. Reached home @6pm. thn, dinner & online awhile. & went out again, bought my stuffs, Do this & tht. Reached home @10plus.
